Detail secured planning for this mixed use development in Handsworth in Birmingham.
The objective was to design and establish a mixed use development consisting of 2 principle development zones. The first facing Rookery Rd is to be a mixed use block with ground floor commercial A1, A2 use and residential apartments over 2 floors above. The second zone facing Albert Rd is to be a series of residential dwellings fit for family living.
The design will seek to provide a significant contribution to the streetscape, delivering a striking individual building to Rookery Road.
The emphasis was on the delivery of quality architecture and the provision of functional spaces / uses, to achieve an aesthetically pleasing and secure residential environment of good character that enhances the image of the local built form and achieves good levels of amenity and privacy for the residents of the proposed homes.
